8 Amazing Dining Places to indulge your tastebuds in around Bangkok

Most of us cannot get enough of Thai food!!! It is because Thai food is made from fresh ingredients and bold flavors at the same time. A typical Thai dish is never complete without combining something spicy, sour, sweet, and salty…..

so where to begin? Should you follow the crowds to the bustling restaurants and street food stalls of Bangkok or explore the hidden gems outside the city? Well, the only way you can do that is to immerse yourself in the delicious food and discover everything Thai cuisine has to offer….

Here are some of my favorite places I visited in my recent trip to Bangkok!!!!

Grand Chao Phraya Cruise

Had an amazing evening onboard the Grand Chao Phraya Cruise…

We started the cruise from Asiatique the riverfront, while sipping a drink and taking in the stunning evening scenery on both sides of the Chao Phraya river on the upper open-air deck.

It was certainly easy to be so mesmerised by the beauty of magnificent views as the city lights up for the night from IconSiam, the Temple Of Dawn, Wat Phra Kaew, the Grand Palace, the Suspension Rama VIII Bridge, and a string of world-class waterfront hotels.

Treat we indulged in yummy Thai sashimi and a range of Thai and international dishes from the buffet listening to the musician and singers entertaining us with their music….

Amazing views, great entertainment and good food with a lovely evening breeze … what else can a girl want…. Feeling blessed!!!!!

Sirimahannop

Sirimahannop is a replica of a Royal Thai navy ship, the last three-masted sailing ship used by The Royal Thai Navy, during the reign of King Rama V (1868-1910).

The ship used to transport teak wood and other goods to be sold in Europe; upon return, carrying coal to Bangkok, and was one of six ships that protected the Thai capital from invasion in the Franco-Siamese War in 1893.

We had a great night indulging in Thai cuisine- Neua Yang Nam Tok, Yum Talay, Tom Kha Gai, Pad Thai, Satay Gai, Khao Soi Gai and Mango Sticky Rice .. you can choose to dine in comfort in the deck below or enjoy the warm balmy air and breathtaking scenery on the above deck with music and good food provided by the culinary team under Marriott Bonvoy

Sirimahannop is permanently docked at Asiatique and offers a picture-perfect setting to unwind and enjoy the “golden hour” on Chao Phraya – The River of Kings, in Bangkok

Kuang Seafood Restaurant is best known for its fresh grilled, and barbequed seafood, with iconic irresistible dipping sauce! As the business passed down from generation to generation, Kuang Seafood honed their skill from time to time and is now a highly praised restaurant

We indulged in their Hor Mok, Fish Maw Soup, Deep Fried Garlic Fish, Prawns cooked in Superior Soy Sauce, Oyster Omelette and Grilled Squid, all which were freshly prepared and oh so good!!!

Dining at Kuang Seafood in Bangkok is a must-try experience for seafood lovers. With its delicious food, friendly service, and cosy atmosphere, it’s the perfect place to enjoy a meal with family and friends.

Kiew Kia Ka

One of Michelin Guide restaurants in Bangkok, Kiew Kia Ka is a Thai restaurant, serving classical Thai favourites.

The restaurant looks like a pretty glass house with various plants and peacocks inside allowing diners to indulge in fine dining in a luxurious setting.

This restaurant has been awarded Michelin Guide 7 for consecutive years!!!

One of their signature dishes recommended would be Roasted Duck Red Curry –  the curry is thick and full of flavours!!! Their other dishes are pretty good too….

Ban Khun Mae Thai Cuisine

Their reputation is built on secret recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation for over 30 years already!!!

ChomSindh

Step into the realm of rich Thai flavours where freshwater and seafood delicacies come alive. ChomSindh celebrates traditional Thai recipes, revered and passed through generations. ChomSindh master chefs, using their artisanal expertise, craft dishes from the freshest local catches and finest Thai ingredients.

Embodying the ambiance of a welcoming Thai shophouse, the space exudes a distinctive allure. With each bite, immerse yourself in the authentic spirit and essence of Thai aquatic culinary tradition.

The Deep Fried Grouper with Three Flavoured Sauce was really refreshing even for someone like me who did not like deep fried food much

Crab Curry with Wild Betel Leaves and Samut Songkhram Seabite is a culinary celebration to sustainability, featuring crab sourced from an eco-friendly crab bank in Prachuap Khiri Khan.

Old Fashioned Stir- Fried Holy Basil with Prawn also known as ‘Nareekansaeng’, or as the ancestor to the esteemed ‘Phat Kaphrao’. This piquant dish, boasting shrimp from the Andaman Sea, is notorious for its intense heat, fabled to make a woman weep. Its fervent spice derives from a quintessential Thai amalgamation of garlic, coriander root, and pepper, joined by holy basil and dried chillies, forging a potent mix of flavours that epitomises the depth of Thai culinary tradition. But before you ask I am a spicy food eater so I did not weep….lol but I definitely loved the dishes a lot!!!!!

After You Dessert Shop

I am a huge fan of After You dessert café !!!! They serve signature desserts such as  Shibuya Honey Toast, Chocolate Lava Cake, Bingsu etc….

The team at After You dessert café strives to offer the most special and best desserts made from the finest ingredients. The goal is to keep the very same standard of quality, service, and the warm atmosphere for everyone to enjoy.

After You is known for its Shibuya Honey Toast – a thick slab of bread with butter baked in the slits and topped with honey / chocolate or choice of topping with ice creams, fruits and whipped topping and bingsu / Snowflake Shaved Ice. The former includes a coconut mango sticky rice variant, which is essentially mango shaved ice topped with rich coconut milk and a layer of mango sticky rice at the bottom. It’s a perfect treat for cooling down in the hot weather, and the portion is quite generous.

Overall, the desserts are always nicely presented and they all taste amazing, the melt in the mouthsaying is literally meant with the ice deserts.

Kung Ob Phu Kow Fai

This Thai-Chinese restaurant is located in Nakhonpratom, 60 km away from Bangkok or about 1 hour by driving.

The restaurant covers a huge space divided into several seating areas. There’s an air-con room in the middle and of course in the humid weather that was where we opt to sit

This is the best place where you can taste what they call “volcano roasted prawns” in Nakhon Pathom. The prawns are very fresh, properly cooked, and most importantly, reasonably priced… and that’s the reason this plain and simple looking restaurant has a waiting list

We had their prawn cakes, fish cakes, steamed fish in superior soy sauce and garlic, charcoal grilled prawns, squid, asparagus and shrimp, and mapo taufu which was made with eggie taufu – my favorite kind!!!

The volcano roasted prawns were fantastic for the taste and presentation and is a must have and ordered by almost every table

Address : 885 Phetkasem Road Tambon Sanam Chan, Nakhon Pathom 73000 Thailand (on the way back from Mae Khlong)

**Note: These restaurants are not halal but, being an openminded and easy going person, I just opt for pork free food as I still want to indulge in the good food offered
