Thailand, also known as the Land of Smiles, is my second “kampung” and a perfect tropical holiday destination for just about anyone and everyone whether you are part of a family or one half of a couple or even if you are just backpackers or flashpackers or digital nomads…

Beautiful Thailand is bordered by Laos, Cambodia, and Myanmar to the north. On the west l, you can find the Andaman Sea and on the south, it’s bordered by Malaysia and also the Gulf of Thailand….
Thailand which has been the seat of several powerful kingdoms from the Sukhothai Kingdom, Ayutthaya Kingdom, Thonburi Kingdom and even the Rattanakosin Kingdom, is a fascinating country filled with ancient cultural practices and a rich history, besides it’s popular beaches and also cities…

Yet, Thailand is also a world-famous tourist destination with breathtaking beaches with sun- kissed white sands, mesmerizing temples, interesting street food, and friendly faces…
So some friends ask me when is the best time to go to Thailand?! Ah well, most of Thailand have cool temperatures between Nov – March (winter and spring months) like most other SE Asian countries, making it one of the best times to visit the country, cos it is nice and cool and you get to enjoy beautiful flowers and nature is at it’s best…
The rainy season in Thailand will begin around June and continues until around October or early November… This rain occurs in bursts of heavy intensity and stops just as suddenly as it started. During this rainy period, the temperatures stay static and the air remains humid.
The temperature between December and February will normally be between 84°F to 95°F (29°C to 35°C), making it perfect for beach excursions or exploring the abundant heritage sites scattered throughout the country or if you are a fan of nature, the flower farms!!! During this period, the weather tends to be just nice and the skies, clear…..

Thailand always have something for everyone, from pristine beaches to lush mountains and here are some of the best destinations I would say you should visit in December, January or February!!!
For those who loves Cultural and Historical sites:-

Chiang Mai: Explore the ancient temples and bustling night markets of Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. December is also the time Chiang Mai holds their very charming Chiang Mai Flower Festival, which features colorful floral displays and cultural parades. The cooler weather is ideal for hiking the mountains and visiting ethnic hill tribes.
For the adventurous souls, this is the most perfect time to explore the Doi Inthanon National Park, which is also known as the “Roof of Thailand” that offers a multitude of trails suitable for all skill levels, and your reward? A very breathtaking scenery!!!!

Ayutthaya: Ayutthaya, which is just a short drive or train ride away is also a lovely destination with amazing glimpses into Thailand’s glorious past with all its ancient temple ruins…. You should rent a bike or hire a driver to bring you through the historic park to see temples like Wat Rachaburana and Wat Mahathat

Sukhothai Historical Park: The power center of the Sukhothai Kingdom about 600-700 years ago, the Sukhotai Historical Park covers about 70 square kilometers. The main town can be found within the Sukhothai city wall, and you can find and explore the 70 monuments where traces of royal palaces and temples still remain!!!
For those Night Owls and Party Animals:-

Bangkok: Thailand’s Capital is always a wonderful place to visit and it is full of energy in December.
From rooftop bars to street clubs etc, and amazing malls, Bangkok’s nightlife definitely suit all preferences. Look out for special events and New Year’s Eve countdown parties st this time of the year adding to your fun and thrill!!!

Pattaya: The magic of Pattaya is that during the day, you can relax on the beach or visit nearby islands, like Koh Larn, escaping the hustle and bustle and party the night away along Pattaya’s walking street which is full of clubs, bars and restaurants
For those who love Nature and Adventures:–

Khao Sok National Park: Khao Sok National Park, said to be one of Thailand’s most pristine parks is home to ancient rainforests, limestone karsts, and the beautiful Cheow Lan Lake. Stay in a floating bungalow, go kayaking, or trek through the jungle to spot exotic wildlife.

Khao Yai : Khao Yai, a 3 hours drive from Bangkok is the place for nature lovers and adventure seekers who are keen in trying something new and quirky, aside from the regular shopping spree and Bangkok nightlife.

Tagged and considered the Europe of Asia – stepping foot in Khao Yai, might make you feel like you have stepped foot in New Zealand – when you visit the replica of the famous Hobbit House, Greece – when you are visiting the mini Santorini , or even Italy – when you visit the Italian Piazza and those beautiful fresh flower / sunflower farms – and just immerse yourself in all that nature has to offer in the amazing place!!!
For those appreciating a Quiet Getaway:

Koh Lanta: Koh Lanta is a popular destination for families and couples and offers quiet beaches, perfect for snorkeling, diving, and admiring the sunset. The laid-back vibe is complemented by charming seaside bars and restaurants.

Koh Yao Noi: Koh Yao Noi which is located in Phang Nga Bay offers stunning views and a peaceful retreat away from the maddening crowd… Here you can cycle, explore local villages, and kayak around the picturesque limestone islands!!! How idyllic is that!!!!
So yes, December or now – with its festive atmosphere and mild weather, is a pretty amazing time to discover how your stories never end in amazing Thailand and how you can create amazing new chapters!!!!

Don’t forget to:
- Pack your luggage wisely and bring light clothing as well as maybe a rain poncho or wind breaker as weather in Thailand during December may vary by region.
- Book your flights, accommodation, and activities all in advance through reputable travel agency or direct with the hotels and airlines….
- Try not to miss out unique Thai festivals and celebrations in December
- Stay hydrated always
- Dress modestly with sleeves and covering your knees especially when you are visiting temples and religious places….
