There’s something undeniably comforting about hot pot – the simmering broth, the sizzle of fresh meats hitting the pot, and the joy of gathering around the table to share a hearty meal. I recently had the pleasure of experiencing the Jom Makan-Makan Hot Pot Buffet at Melting Pot Café, Concorde Hotel Kuala Lumpur, and let me just say — it’s a hot pot lover’s dream come true.

Available every Wednesday and Thursday from 6.00 pm to 10.00 pm, this all-you-can-eat spread is priced at RM98 nett per adult, with children aged 6 to 11 enjoying a 50% discount. That alone is such great value, considering the quality and variety of food available!
Soup Base First – Decisions, Decisions

You get to pick two soup bases, and trust me, it’s not an easy decision. I opted for the Signature Curry (which had a rich, aromatic kick) and the Tom Yam, which was fiery, tangy, and oh-so-addictive. Other options include Tomato, Chicken and Kimchi broths — something for every palate, whether you like it spicy, sour or comforting.
An Impressive Spread of Premium Picks

The star of any hot pot is the ingredients – and Concorde doesn’t skimp. I was thrilled to see generous cuts of Australian sliced beef brisket, New Zealand lamb, chicken, and a seafood lineup that included tiger prawns, seabass, and asari clams. You could easily curate a surf-and-turf pot tailored to your cravings.
The vegetable bar was also well-stocked with fresh greens like spinach, kangkung, sweet pea sprouts and baby romaine – perfect for balancing out all that indulgence. And let’s not forget the must-haves like mushrooms, tofu, beancurd, and various noodles – everything you need to personalise your pot.
Beyond the Pot – A Buffet that Goes the Extra Mile

What really surprised (and delighted) me was how this buffet went beyond the usual hot pot offerings. There’s a tempura station featuring prawn and vegetable options, fried mee mamak, Yong Chow fried rice, and even chicken karaage with wasabi mayo — crispy, juicy and packed with flavour.
But if there’s one thing you absolutely must try, it’s the teppanyaki station. Watching the chef sizzle up fresh lamb shoulder and chicken with your choice of soy butter or teriyaki sauce was a treat in itself. It’s fragrant, savoury, and adds that grilled richness to an already generous meal.
Sweet Endings

No meal is complete without dessert, and this buffet ends on a high note. I couldn’t resist the baked Japanese citrus cheesecake and tiramisu, but there are also red velvet cake, mini French pastries, and chocolate mousse for those with a serious sweet tooth.
For a local touch, there’s a DIY ABC (Ais Kacang) station – where you can go wild with toppings – and fresh waffles with ice cream. Safe to say, I walked away full, happy, and already thinking about a return visit.
Final Thoughts

The Jom Makan-Makan Hot Pot Buffet at Concorde Hotel Kuala Lumpur is more than just a buffet – it’s a warm, flavourful experience that brings people together over good food. Whether you’re planning a midweek dinner with friends or looking to treat the family, this is a satisfying, value-for-money option worth checking out.
