A Charming Afternoon with Tourism Selangor: Media & Influencers Hi-Tea at Tamarind Springs

There’s something truly special about being appreciated for the work we do as media and content creators — and I felt that appreciation in the most delightful way at the Tourism Selangor’s Media & Influencers Hi-Tea at the beautiful Tamarind Springs in Ampang.

Nestled amidst lush greenery, the venue was a perfect escape from the city’s buzz, setting the tone for an afternoon filled with warmth, connection, and meaningful conversations. Over 100 media practitioners and fellow influencers from across Malaysia were invited — and it was lovely to see so many familiar and new faces come together under one roof.

The event was graced by YB Dato’ Ng Suee Lim, Selangor State Executive Councillor for Local Government and Tourism, and Ms. Chua Yee Ling, the CEO of Tourism Selangor. Their presence reflected just how important our role is in telling Selangor’s tourism story — one reel, one blog post, and one photo at a time.

What stood out for me was hearing about Selangor’s impressive tourism growth. According to DOSM, the state welcomed 34.5 million local visitors in 2024, and as of March 2025, 1.77 million tourist arrivals had already been recorded — with a good mix of domestic and international travellers, especially from China, Singapore, Indonesia, Japan, and India.

And the excitement doesn’t stop there.

Chua Yee Ling also officially announced the Selangor Travel Fair 2025, happening 26 & 27 July at Central Market, Kuala Lumpur. It promises to be a vibrant celebration of Selangor’s tourism offerings, with over 30 exhibitors, cultural showcases, interactive workshops, and even a live concert featuring local favourites Aizat Amdan, Lah Ahmad, and PADAT. I’m definitely saving the date — it sounds like a must-go weekend.

Another highlight will be the launch of the “Selangor Kan Ada!” campaign video and theme song, which aims to spotlight the state’s hidden gems and build excitement for Visit Malaysia Year 2026. It’s a great reminder that sometimes, the best adventures are right in our own backyard.

Tourism Selangor also shared updates on their Visit Selangor Year Tourism Grant (Phase 2), with RM300,000 allocated to support tourism initiatives. Applications are open until 31 October 2025, so if you’ve got a cool idea or project related to Selangor’s tourism — now’s the time!

The Hi-Tea itself was such a lovely blend of culture and community. We enjoyed authentic Thai cuisine, and got hands-on with batik canting, succulent planting, flower tag DIY, and even a food review session. It wasn’t just an event — it felt like a celebration of everything we do to bring travel experiences to life for our audiences.

I walked away from the afternoon feeling recharged and inspired. It’s clear that Tourism Selangor truly values our voice, and I’m proud to be part of this journey as we continue to share the magic of Selangor with the world.

Here’s to new collaborations, exciting campaigns, and discovering even more hidden gems in our beautiful state.
