Today, I had the privilege of witnessing something truly transformative — the official launch of Malaysia Year of Medical Tourism (MYMT) 2026, hosted by the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) at MITEC, Kuala Lumpur. The air was filled with purpose and pride as YB Datuk Seri Dr. Dzulkefly Ahmad, Minister of Health Malaysia, officiated the event with the unveiling of the campaign’s vibrant new logo and tagline:
✨ “Healing Meets Hospitality” ✨

This isn’t just a slogan — it perfectly captures Malaysia’s unique edge in medical tourism: a seamless blend of world-class healthcare and our signature Malaysian warmth. It was inspiring to hear about the country’s big vision — to position Malaysia as one of the top global destinations for medical travellers, backed by modern medical advancements and deeply rooted cultural care.

And guess who’s lending her iconic voice to this campaign? None other than Dato’ Seri Siti Nurhaliza, now the official ambassador for MYMT 2026! Her presence and advocacy are set to amplify Malaysia’s message of healing to the world.

What stood out to me was the emphasis on a holistic healthcare ecosystem — not just modern medicine, but also wellness, preventive care, and Traditional & Complementary Medicine (T&CM). It’s about creating healing journeys that are as human as they are high-tech.

The numbers speak volumes:
📈 1.6 million healthcare travellers in 2024
💰 RM2.72 billion in revenue — a 21% jump from 2023
🎯 And the goal? A bold RM12 billion by 2030

The event also spotlighted the Flagship Medical Tourism Hospital (FMTH) programme, which recognises top-tier institutions like Institut Jantung Negara, Island Hospital Penang, Mahkota Medical Centre, and Subang Jaya Medical Centre — all setting global standards in innovation, care, and international patient service. The winner will be revealed in December 2025.
