If you love travel as much as I do, mark your calendars, because the 57th MATTA Fair is returning for its second round this year, happening from 5 – 7 September 2025 at MITEC, Kuala Lumpur.

This isn’t just your regular travel fair; the National MATTA Fair has grown into the country’s biggest and most anticipated travel showcase. And for this round, it’s coming back with something fresh as well…. a stronger focus on sustainability, thanks to the MATTA Eco & Sustainable Tourism Initiative (MESTI).

Travel Meets Sustainability: What’s New at MATTA Fair?
We’ve all heard about sustainable tourism, but MATTA is taking it a step further by giving it a dedicated space at the fair. MESTI is built on three main pillars:
- 🌿 Wildlife Conservation – protecting Malaysia’s rich biodiversity (fun fact: Malaysia is home to about 20% of the world’s animal species, including the endangered Malayan tiger).
- 🌊 Marine Conservation – raising awareness about protecting our oceans (did you know Malaysia has over 4,600 km of coastline and some of the most diverse coral reefs in the world?).
- 🏛️ Cultural & Historical Preservation – celebrating traditions and heritage that make Malaysia “Truly Asia”.
To bring these pillars to life, MATTA Fair will feature MESTI Pavilions which will be spread across 4 halls with 40+ booths from big names like RHB Bank, Sabah Tourism Board, Penang Global Tourism, Resorts World Genting, Royal Selangor, and more.

One highlight I’m especially excited about is the Ocean Harmonic Initiative by RHB, which focuses on marine conservation. Considering that coral reefs support about 25% of marine life, efforts like this are crucial not only for tourism but for the planet.
What to Expect at the Fair
At the Domestic Hall, Level 1, visitors will get to explore interactive and immersive sustainability showcases. From eco-friendly products to innovative travel solutions, it’s a peek into how the tourism industry is adapting for a greener future.
And of course, it’s not just all about sustainability, the fair is also your chance to score exclusive travel deals, discover hidden gems across Malaysia and abroad, and plan your next getaway.

Why This MATTA Fair Matters
As MATTA President Nigel Wong puts it, “Through MESTI, we learn the tales that make Malaysia Truly Asia… through traditions, green and blue landscapes, and heritage treasures that inspire sustainable practices for generations to come.”
I couldn’t agree more. Travel is not just about seeing new places, but also about protecting the very things that make those places special.
So, if you’re planning your next adventure (and want to feel good about it), head to MATTA Fair September 2025. It’s more than just a fair…. it’s where travel meets sustainability.
