There’s something wonderfully nostalgic about a neighbourhood kopitiam. The aroma of freshly brewed kopi, crispy kaya toast, perfectly soft-boiled eggs, and the familiar buzz of conversations instantly brings back memories.

It’s more than just a place to eat. A kopitiam is where mornings begin, friendships are made, stories are shared, and Malaysians from all walks of life naturally come together. In many ways, it represents the heart of our everyday muhibbah — where food becomes a common language and simple moments turn into lasting memories.
This Merdeka, that familiar warmth comes alive at Intermark Mall with the return of Serasa Merdeka 2.0, a celebration held in conjunction with Malaysia’s 69th National Day and Visit Malaysia Year 2026.

The campaign brings together everything we love about being Malaysian — nostalgic local food, playful experiences, collectible keepsakes and meaningful community initiatives, all wrapped in the spirit of togetherness.
Bringing Malaysian Nostalgia to Life

For Serasa Merdeka 2.0, Intermark Mall has once again teamed up with Play Nation to create a fun and uniquely Malaysian experience.
Located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, Intermark Mall welcomes a diverse community of office workers, residents, expatriates and international visitors. This year’s celebration invites everyone — whether Malaysian or experiencing Merdeka for the first time — to discover the warmth, hospitality and multicultural spirit that make Malaysia special.
The celebration is also supported by AmanahRaya-Kenedix REIT Manager Sdn. Bhd., reflecting a shared commitment to building a vibrant and connected community across the Intermark precinct.
The festivities kicked off on a heartwarming note with students from Primrose Hill International School performing Negaraku and the much-loved Malaysian folk song Chan Mali Chan.

The nostalgic vibes continued after the programme with a social mahjong session hosted by Tai Tai Club, bringing guests together through a pastime enjoyed across generations.
Kopitiam Favourites… But Make It Collectible!
One of the highlights of Serasa Merdeka 2.0 is Play Nation’s playful interpretation of Malaysia’s beloved breakfast culture.
Inspired by familiar kopitiam favourites, the collaboration features six exclusive blind-box plush keychains, turning iconic Malaysian dishes into adorable collectibles.
Think of it as your favourite local breakfast — but in cute plushie form!
Visitors can also drop by the Play Nation Ground Floor pop-up to discover exclusive Intermark merchandise and enjoy fun moments with family, friends and colleagues.
And here’s the exciting part: shoppers who spend RM350 across two receipts can redeem one exclusive blind-box plush keychain, while stocks last.
Want even more nostalgia? The specially designed Serasa Tiffin is available at an exclusive Purchase-With-Purchase price of RM39.90, down from its usual retail price of RM59.90.
Don’t Forget the Food!
Of course, no Malaysian celebration would be complete without food!
Throughout Serasa Merdeka 2.0, Intermark Mall is putting the spotlight on its much-loved tenant, Daily Kopitiam, with exclusive dining rewards inspired by local favourites.
Spend a minimum of RM20 in a single dine-in receipt and redeem one of three rotating weekly treats:
- Kaya Toast & Eggs Set
- Classic Nasi Lemak
- Nyonya Kuih
The rewards are available from 18 August to 6 September 2026, while stocks last.
So yes, there’s definitely a good reason to come hungry!
Merdeka with a Meaningful Purpose
But Serasa Merdeka 2.0 isn’t only about food, games and collectibles.
Intermark Mall is also using the celebration to encourage more conscious and sustainable everyday habits, especially among the younger generation.
Since launching its pre-loved clothing collection programme with SIB/Blessed Store in July 2025, the mall has collected close to 5,000kg of donated clothing.
In 2026 and beyond, Intermark Mall has partnered with Life Line Clothing, in alignment with Pavilion REIT’s direction, to help give thousands of garments a second life while encouraging more mindful consumption.
The mall is also continuing its e-waste collection initiative with ERTH, with the partnership expanding to include workshops and activities designed to raise awareness about the importance of responsible recycling.
For a busy business district like Intermark, making recycling more accessible to office workers, residents and visitors is a small but meaningful step towards building better sustainable habits.
Celebrating the Little Things That Make Us Malaysian

According to Evelyn Woon, General Manager, Marketing, the heart of Merdeka is about appreciating the little things that make Malaysia special — from our favourite local breakfasts and nostalgic keepsakes to the moments we share with family and friends.
And that really captures the spirit of Serasa Merdeka 2.0.
Because sometimes, celebrating Malaysia doesn’t have to mean something grand.
It can be sitting around a table with a plate of nasi lemak.
It can be sharing kaya toast and kopi with someone you love.
It can be collecting a cute plushie that reminds you of your childhood.
Or simply spending time together, laughing, playing and creating new memories.
More Than Just a Merdeka Celebration

Serasa Merdeka 2.0 is ultimately a celebration of the everyday experiences that bring Malaysians together.
It celebrates our food, our memories, our diversity and our shared sense of community — while reminding us that doing good and living sustainably can also be part of our everyday lives.

Whether you’re revisiting childhood memories or discovering Malaysian traditions for the first time, Intermark Mall invites everyone to come together and experience the joy of sharing a table, a story, a meal or even a little game.
Because in Malaysia, our greatest stories have never been just about what we eat.
They’re about who we share it with.
