Who says art exhibitions have to be serious and intimidating? 🎨

Head over to Avenue K Shopping Mall and you’ll find EmpowHER Art – Celebrating Women Visionaries, a contemporary group art exhibition that celebrates women, creativity, resilience and, most importantly, the incredible stories behind the art.

Held from 1 to 11 October 2026 at Rooftop (Level 4) @ ABOVE, Avenue K, this exhibition brings together 50 Malaysian artists and creative professionals, with a total of 100 fine art canvas paintings on display.

And yes… admission is FREE!

So if you’re already planning a little shopping, coffee date or KL outing, this is one more reason to pop into Avenue K and head upstairs.

50 artists, 100 artworks and plenty of stories

Curated by Malaysian artist Phillip Wong, EmpowHER Art explores different sides of womanhood… from strength and creativity to identity, achievement, resilience and empowerment.

What I particularly love about this exhibition is that it goes beyond simply putting pretty paintings on walls.

Some of the participating artists have overcome physical, cognitive and sensory challenges while continuing to develop their artistic talents and express themselves through their work.

So while you’re admiring the colours, textures and creativity, take a little time to discover the stories behind the artworks too.

Because sometimes, the story behind a painting can be just as powerful as the painting itself.

Art with a purpose

EmpowHER Art is presented and produced by Avenue K in partnership with the Breast Cancer Welfare Association Malaysia (BCWA).

And there’s a lovely giving-back element too… 10% of proceeds from artwork sales will be donated to BCWA to support its breast health initiatives.

BCWA will also be having a Public Education Booth and Mobile Clinic session on 9 October 2026, where visitors can learn more about breast health, self-examination and the importance of early detection.

A little art appreciation, a little learning and hopefully a little reminder to take care of ourselves too.

A rooftop gallery with a difference

For 11 days, the rooftop space at ABOVE will be transformed into a gallery filled with different artistic voices and perspectives.

And because every artist brings their own experiences to the canvas, there’s something quite personal about walking through the exhibition… you’re not just looking at paintings, you’re getting little glimpses into different journeys, emotions and interpretations of what it means to be a woman.

Whether you’re an art lover, someone who enjoys discovering local creatives, or simply looking for something different to do in KL… EmpowHER Art is worth checking out.
