So yours truly was at The Lost World Of Tambun recently with my other half and my mini me… This was the second time we were here and we were just as excited about it as ever…  This would be because we were heading to a wholesome family adventure place set amidst lush tropical jungle, natural hot springs, breathtaking limestone over 400 million years old.

The Lost World Of Tambun offers visitors a “lost paradise” that promises amazing fun and wholesome experience for all ages but also an awesome learning environment which you will be having more fun then realizing you were actually learning something new…

The Lost World Of Tambun is the only theme park in Southeast Asia with natural hot springs and is ideal for family getaways… seeing that the school holidays is just around the corner.

We arrived at the Lost World Of Tambun at noon and we were feeling pretty hungry since we drove all the way from KL… and so we headed to the Ipoh Street there…

In case you did not know it, Ipoh Street here serves up some of the most delectable local delicacies.

There are delicious desserts, snacks, finger food or light meals here, and among some of the must-try delights include tau fu fah – soya bean custard with delicious sugar syrup, Ipoh’s famous fragrant pastry heong peah as well as white coffee and the Curry Mee….

The Curry Mee is do delicious we had seconds….and no, it is not too expensive.. it is reasonably priced and I am telling you again, try those dishes.. they are really good….

After your lunch, we took a stroll and headed to the River & Beach Garden where you can find a lovely landscaped beach surrounded by 20 feet twin waterfalls with two rivers flowing into the pool. A crystal-white sandy beach complimented with lush tropical gardens and majestic rock formations is a perfect mood-setter to start off your little adventure here at the Lost World Of Tambun.

Be sure to hit the waves at Malaysia’s biggest wave pool where waves can swell up to 3 feet high at the Jungle Wave Pool before heading to the Sandy Bay with friends and family for a relaxing soak in the sun.

For the little ones, there is the Explorabay which is completely supervised so have the peace of mind and let the little explorers the freedom to explore the special small slides; large, wet, interactive play area with giant tipping buckets; water cannons; spraying elephants;  water curtains and fountains

For teenagers and those who love the adrenaline rush, do not miss out on the the Cliff Racer! And of course, don’t miss going on the longest inflatable tube ride in Malaysia! With four different slides to try, the Tube Raiders is a family favourite as you wind your way down from the top of the giant slides.

Sit back and relax as you gently float around in South East Asia’s 660- meter length longest adventure river, passing the naturally beautiful caves and out-of-the-world water features.

Lupe’s Adventure which happens to be the First Roller Coaster Ride in Perak. For thrillseekers, it’s a love affair with the excitement of what a roller coaster offers and it has been the “must ride” attraction in theme parks for more than a century. After all where else can you get that adrenaline rush….. hahaha

Be sure to take the chance to enjoy the scenery while you dry off on the Dragon Flights ride as you get swung in the air in this thrilling swing-chair ride if you dare… but actually it is nothing to be afraid of. My daughter loves this ride a lot…

There is also the Stormrider, a pirate boat which will swing you 180 degrees for some knee-knocking, spine-tingling excitement. Do not attempt this after a meal though… hahaha

You can also get your little ones to cool down after playing explorer at the water park on the Perak Parade carousel and go on the Giddy Galleon for a perfect family ride away from the water. Make sure you go on the Adventure Express; where you can sit back and let this ancient locomotive take you and your family on a journey past majestic ruins, surging waters and wild tigers; giving you a quick tour of the Lost World Of Tambun’s other attractions.

My mini me, Anne was thrilled to find the Catopia there…  The Catopia is a cat room where you can enter and touch, feel, feed and play with the cats under supervision. There are assorted breeds of cats available such as the cute and round British Short Hair, furry and huge Maine Coons, hairless Sphynx and the gorgeous leopard-like Bengal cats.

Look for the serval cat as well while you are here. We found the serval cat fascinating… these wild cats have the largest ears among all the cats and the longest legs. They are also the fastest running cat after the cheetah and nicknamed ‘Small Cheetah’.

Meet the Lost World Of Tambun’s very own Siberian tigers. Catch them and their handlers at play in the Tiger Valley and observe their agility and strength as they leap over rocks and logs to get to their food during the tiger feeding shows which was what my hubby, daughter and I enjoyed, as the show includes other very talented and adorable animals as well…

Walk along the Porcupine Trail in the Tiger Valley to see the porcupines. Be careful not to provoke them as they will raise their quills and lash out with the tail when they feel threaten. We found them all hiding under the shade…

You can also find interesting other animals here such as the Patagonian Mara, Capybara and Emu. Mara is an interesting animal because they can hop like rabbits, walk like deers, rest like cats and their face resembles kangaroos and they are suppose to belong to the rodent family… weird  huh

Take a trip down memory lane and learn a bit about Tin Mining in Peninsular Malaysia which was  practised for hundreds of years. The Orang Asli & Malays were the first miners, then came the Siamese and Mandailings followed strongly by the Chinese immigrants who were mostly Hakkas.

During the tin mining’s prime in the mid-19th century, the Kinta Valley was one of the most active areas. Towns like Ipoh, Kampar and Tambun have prestigious tin mining history.

The Tin Valley was created in Lost World Of Tambun to take our guest back to the past, a time where “dulang washer” persistently works They brought panning by the rivers to feed their families.

Today our kids can learn about this history while having fun, partake in the daily dulang washing activities and see real artefacts from the past at their Galleria and Dulang Tea House.

And while you are there at the Dulang Tea House be sure to stop for a while and try their Roasted Rice tea RM5…. It is surprisingly amazing… and of course, take the time to admire those sheer cliffs covered with jungle vegetation that form the background of this picturesque theme park. These towering hills with their limestone walls, pierced by caves and crevices are amazingly unique in Malaysia.

The limestone hills of Kinta Valley are what remain of a massively thick bed of limestone deposited more than 400 million years ago and brought to the surface by enormous tectonic forces.

The Needle of Tambun also known as “Pencil Rock” rises vertically from the ground at the southern end of the Lost World. It is a unique limestone pinnacle that was miraculously preserved while the surrounding limestone dissolved several thousands of years ago. The key to its preservation as a pinnacle of 80 meters high is the fact that the hard limestone beds or strata are in vertical position, allowing it to stay balanced and defy gravity.

You can actually meet the safari animals such as the giraffe, zebras and ostriches on your way to  the petting zoo….

The Petting Zoo is definitely my daughter’s favorite place in the whole park… this is where you can touch, feel, feed and play with the animals and say ‘hi’ to Ruby the raccoon and her friends….

The Petting Zoo features a large variety of exotic animals in an environment created as close to nature as possible and apart from being a fun activity that families can do together, it also serves as a nature education platform for schools and visitors.

In Bird Paradise, you can experience birds outside their cage. Put some food on your hand and watch the budgies fly to you. There are so many types of birds including peafowls, ducks, cranes, chickens, small birds and among them some exotic birds.

Other areas such as Rainforest Trail, Tarantula Alley, Rabbit Wonderland, Tortoise Kingdom, Tapir’s Corner, Wetland, Marmoset Treehouse and Serpentarium are equally attractive.

My daughter and I did not have the chance to visit all of these because the weather turned bad and it started raining, and since we were also a bit exhausted, we headed back to the hotel for the day…

Of course, do not forget to pick up some gifts or souvenirs for yourself or your friends/family at the gift shop…
