Recently, yours truly checked into the 20-storey Royale Bintang Kuala Lumpur Hotel… For those of you who do not know where it is, it is located towards the end of Bukit Bintang road next to Federal Hotel and also in front the used to be notorious/ but now cleaned up Sun Complex. It is definitely a very convenient place for shopaholics… as it is just a 3-min walk to Low Yat Plaza, about 5-min walk to Sg Wang Plaza, 10-min to Lot 10 or Fahrenheit 88 and about 15- min walk to the posh Starhill or Pavilion KL! You can also walk to the Berjaya Times Square and the indoor theme park there in about 5- mins.

If you are a foodie, you will definitely also be spoiled for choice, as the popular Jalan Alor food street which is full of all kinds of stir fry sea food and coffee shops are just located behind the shophouses on the opposite side of the road from Royale Bintang.
Checking in was a breeze and the receptionist was polite and efficient…
The Royale Bintang Kuala Lumpur Hotel offers modern rooms that comes with climate control, free Wi-Fi, a telephone, a minibar and a small room safe as well as coffee/tea makers, an electric kettle and a fridge. There is a table and chair, a Muslim prayer mat and a little daybed/seat in the room that can double for a child bed…
Bathrooms are fitted with the old fashion bathtub, shower curtain and shower in the bathtub, and there are signs of stains at the shower curtain…
…water pressure was good though and we had decent amenities in the room. I also liked that they are not too stingy and there are actually 4 bottles of RO water in the room, as oppose to the normal 2…
The decor in the room is not too bad but probably due for an upgrade soon but as they are kept clean and tidy so it is not too much of a bother unless you are very particular or fussy…
Our room was on the 8th floor and facing the swimming pool and I could also see Sun Complex from my room….
The pool there looks pretty lovely… and there is a small wade pool for the kiddies too..
There is a gym and a fitness room there as well as a spa lounge, a sauna and a health club that offers Turkish steam bath and massage..
The bed was reasonably comfortable…and we had a good night sleep…
I woke up in the morning to this lovely view….and then we got ready to go for breakfast….
Breakfast was served at the Sunflowers Brasserie which is the hotel cafe, on level 1, but there isn’t too much to shout about, the food is just reasonably edible and there is also a live omelette station but for the first time I wasn’t too happy with my omelette.. this was because the chef cooked my omelette with powdered parmesan and my omelette seemed coarse and powdery to taste… For a 4 star hotel, I feel that the breakfast offering should be more than just this…
Anyway, checking out was also easy and when I had a little problem with my parking ticket, the reception settled the issue fast for me…
Overall, it is a decent stay, at a nice area, suitable for tourists who loves to shop and is not too fussy…but I think the hotel is probably due for a makeover or upgrade soon to keep up with the other Royale Bintang/ Royale Chulan sister hotels…
