A STAY AT THE INTERCONTINENTAL KUALA LUMPUR

in12

Shortly after I came back from Kyoto/Osaka, I brought my youngest daughter and husband on a little staycation at the InterContinental Kuala Lumpur, after all, what was a holiday, since it was the mid term break, without a staycation or a getaway, no matter how small…

The Intercontinental Kuala Lumpur located conveniently in the golden triangle of Kuala Lumpur, is just across the road from the oldest shopping centre Ampang Park, and within a 10 minutes walk of the Suria KLCC/ Petronas Twin Towers.. and you can also walk to the Intermark… and if you are someone who loves walking, you actually can walk to Suria KLCC and from there, walk to the KL Convention Centre and to Pavilion KL via the air conditioned pedestrian bridge…. I have done that before… it would be just about 20-25 minutes…

But if you are not so inclined to walk in the humidity, you can catch a bus or the LRT which is just a couple of minutes away to KLCC and everywhere else…and though I did not quite use it, they do have a hotel shuttle to so main points of Kuala Lumpur as well…

Checking in at the Intercontinental was a breeze and I was given the 6th Floor room, because my husband smokes… lol.. and I think that was a smoking floor… when I was making my reservations, they took the trouble to ask and that was definitely a plus point  I think…

There are a total of 473 stylishly designed guest rooms to choose from such as the Deluxe Room, Club InterContinental Rooms to Luxurious suites.

I was only given a deluxe room but it certainly was comfortable enough with twin beds, a lounge seater that doubles up as an extra sleep space for a small kid and a work area for me to do my work.. and a sleek 40 inch flat screen LCD TV on the wall

I have to say that the complimentary WiFi is great….

I loved the spacious bathroom with a separate bath – heaven sent to my daughter and rain shower, and the toilet is pretty great as it is almost like the toilets in Japan… with differing bidets to wash your privates with…. And lovely bathroom amenities…

You have to love the beautifully landscaped pool area with 3 different depths… 0.8m and 1.0m for the kiddies and a 1.2m adult pool and is surrounded by tall sky scrapers…

There is also a generous gym there, perfect for those who love keeping themselves fit, with free flow of mineral water and apples for guests, as well as a spa which was however being renovated when I was there…

Hungry and looking for somewhere to dine… there is the Serena Brasserie for all-day dining and buffet, Tao Chinese Cuisine for Chinese food and dim sum, Tatsu Japanese Cuisine, IVIV /OneSixFive for some sumptuous afternoon tea and cocktails and Bentley’s Pub if you just like to chill out with a beer or something…

Breakfast at the Serena Brasserie was a lovely affair with delicious food with a wide variety of choices, from Miso soup, noodles, continental offerings, omelette stations, nasi lemak, cereals, salads and so on…

Overall, we had a great stay there and my daughter and husband was also contented and happy with the hotel location, amenities  and comfort…. The bed was comfortable for sure with ample plush pillows for a good night rest, the hotel was well taken care and everything looked new and luxurious… and so it was definitely a great stay…

It would be great to be able to check out other rooms in the future.. and well, if you happen to be in Kuala Lumpur or heading here and need a nice and convenient place to stay, this might be it…
