The KL Bird Park is one of Kuala Lumpur’s top tourist attractions… It is located at the scenic KL Lake Gardens, just a few minutes away from Kuala Lumpur’s city centre… It is about 20 acre in size and said to be the World’s largest free-flight walk-in aviary….
Recently I brought one of my best friends and his friends over for a visit.. because strangely when we live at an area, we normally take for granted and will barely take the opportunity to visit the places of interests in that area… and having said that they have not been to the bird park!!!
We arrived there around lunch time and feeling peckish and hungry, we headed to the Hornbill Restaurant for lunch..
The Hornbill Restaurant is located outside the Bird Park and overlooks the park too… the food there is pretty good and price reasonable for a tourist area…
We ordered the Spaghetti Aglio Olio with Seafood RM25.90, Chicken Cordon Bleu RM29.90 and a Rib Eye Steak RM49.90….
The food was really delicious and came in generous portions…
We quickly finished our meal and then headed inside the KL Bird Park…
Having visited the KL Bird Park a number of times, I am still fascinated every time I visit with a huge collection of birds of different species from peacocks, pelicans, flamingoes, pheasants, victorian pigeons, storks, ibis and other birds moving around freely in the gardens..
It is said there are around 3,000 birds and over 200 different species here at the KL Bird park which is divided into 4 zones: Zone 1 & 2 are free-flight zones…..
Zone 3 is the Hornbill Park (also free flight concept) and Zone 4 contains birds separated in cages, enclosures and mini-aviaries…
Usually the birds which are kept in cages and enclosures are either dangerous such as the Brahminy Kites or endangered species to protect them..
Many of the birds are pretty used to us busy body humans and some will even pose for photos…
I almost mistook one of the pelicans for a statue considering how still it was…
You can also feed the emus and ostrich and marvel at newly hatched chicks at the nursery.. it is also a grest excuse to visit to get out of the heat…
You might like to splurge a bit for your own souvenir or a couple/group/family pic at the photography area where you can take many pics with the birds… It costs about RM48 for the souvenir print but they’ll take lots of other pics with your phone for you…
To enjoy your trip to the KL Bird Park, it is best to wear light, comfortable jersey or cotton kind of clothing with comfortable walking shoes as well as a cap or hat or an umbrella….
Overall, expect to spend at least 3 to 4 hours here or longer..as it is a pretty big park to …

Just went there last week. Inside the bird park is quite hot. But there are bird species in there. Is a nice place for everyone to pay a visit.

A beautiful place with bad frontline services. Was there with my 3 kids after a morning walk at Tmn Tugu. Headed to the ticketing booth & got rejected just because there’s only 2 Malaysian IDs to prove all 4 of us are entitled to Malaysian entrance fees! I carried my ID, my 17 yrs old also did but my 13 yrs & 8 yrs old wasn’t… so the other 2 was told that they cannot enter without a valid ID! I told her my kids are Malaysian & even butterfly park allowed us to purchase the tickets and why can’t Bird Park? The lady staff said that’s their problem for allowing & it’s not her concern. I’m so disappointed with my fellow Malaysian for being so ugly & rude!
