Animals are a window to your soul and a doorway to your spiritual destiny. If you let them into your life and allow them to teach you, you will be better for it. I love animals, sometimes more than people, because they don’t judge, and being an animal lover, I can never resist getting close to animals, seeing them and even interacting with them in whatever way I can…
So Langkawi has many wonderful animal places where one can get close to animals… Some people think animals might be better off in the wild but I am starting to think otherwise because all over the world, animals are losing their habitats to deforestation, to wildfires, to nasty and greedy humans, as well to other predators and though it might seem sad to cage a wild animal up, I feel they are safer and have a better chance of living longer, provided that the zoo or animal sanctuary takes good care of them…
So these are 3 of my favorite places to head to to interact and see animals up close…
The Crocodile Adventureland is personally my most favourite crocodile place in Malaysia..
It is very clean and hygienic and located in the lush greenery surroundings with mountains at the backdrop at the Teluk Datai Bay area at the north western end of Langkawi…
I enjoy coming here because the park is really clean, there is no uncomfortable stenches and one can learn a lot about this fascinating reptiles from the activities around the park…
From feeding or fishing a juvenile crocodile (and find out how strong this tiny creatures can be!!!!)
… to learning how these 700kg reptiles can lay eggs thay hatches into little crocs weighing just about 70g…
Then you can also challenge yourself and your friends and experience holding a juvenile croc while marvelling at these amazing prehistoric creatures skin, feet etc…
You can see one of the largest collections of Malaysian crocodiles here in different species and sizes in comfortable spaces…
Crocodile Adventureland is divided into several sections with plenty of signages at each section giving information about the crocodiles in that section…
Don’t miss the shows taking place at the Show Pond with a bigger juvenile crocodile and also one of the largest crocodile in the park, Bujang Lang… This show is the main highlight of Crocodile Adventureland…
A feeding session takes place at the large Bridge pond, where you can walk along the bridge built over a huge pond… Beware though, there are over 100 crocodiles in this pond…
The very brave staff would come to the grassy land next to the pond with a bucket of bundled chicken parts and walk towards the hungry crocs who are waiting patiently at the edge of the pond… It’s quite an impressive sight when you see him throwing a bundle of chicken heads or whole chickens into the open mouths of the hungry crocs who then snap it with their large jaws between the teeth….
Of course, do not to miss the exciting new adventure and thrill show “the legend of Sarcosuchus” featuring the world’s largest animatronic dinosaur – a fifty feet pre-historic Sarcosuchus along with a velociraptor and a dilophosaurus

The Underwater World Langkawi is also one of Langkawi’s best-known attractions…
It is situated at the southern end of Pantai Cenang (almost at the border of Pantai Tengah), next to the Zon duty-free shopping centre, it is one of Malaysia’s largest aquariums…
At a glance you might mistake Underwater World Langkawi to be a small place but it is actually a huge building structure housing over 200 different species of marine and freshwater fish including harbour seals, rockhopper penguins, sharks, giant rays and the enormous Amazonian arapaima – the biggest freshwater fish in the world….
The Araipamas (the world’s largest freshwater fish) can be seen in a medium-sized tank in front of the entrance door, the first thing that will capture your attention….
Underwater World Langkawi is divided into three sections: Tropical Rainforest (where you can see birds, reptiles etc) , Temperate and Sub-Antarctic….
The Sub-Antarctic is probably the most popular section –with adorable hyperactive sea lions splashing around as well as cute little rockhopper and African black-footed penguins that draws the crowd’s attention…
Then of course, who can resist the giant walk-through six million litre underwater tunnel tank which houses an extensive number of fish including sharks, giant garoupas, giant stingrays and turtles.

Langkawi Wildlife Park is a five-acre animal sanctuary along Jalan Ayer Hangat opened in 2002, it is a tropical garden with many exotic birds from macaws, ducks, flamingoes, budgies, cranes, eagles and peacocks.
The park also features a walk-in aviary with a 15-metre manmade waterfall, a duty-free retail outlet and has a lot of animal-feeding sessions especially if you purchase the package of mixed food containing seeds, vegetables, fruits, corn and fish pellets….
I really loved getting to feed the animals from the flamingo to the cassawary to the ferocious crocs…
The Langkawi Wildlife Park is just about 10 minutes from Kuah… You really should visit here to learn more about what to feed the animals, what the animal’s habits are like and so on…
