Hotel Review 2021 – The Gemalai Village, Langkawi

It sure was a huge relief to finally travel to Langkawi after the months of lonely boredom lockdown…. Finally a change of scenery and my close friend and I planned our trip… Our first stop would be a beautiful scenic hideaway where contact with nature and the essence of tradition is privileged… do it all… or nothing at all…

The idea of waking up in the middle of lush greenery of the paddy fields and waterlilies was definitely irresistible…

So the Gemalai Village was our first stop… It is a great eco friendly stay, for those who want to feel like experiencing a stay at a little “village” of 6 tatched Malay style wooden huts with gable roofs & even bamboo lined bathroom walls…

On some days once the paddy has been harvested, you get to wake up to surprise buffalo guests grazing around the field….

The Gemalai Village is located right in Laman Padi Langkawi & it’s just a mere 10minutes walk away from Pantai Cenang beach…

A pretty delicious and filling Lunch and Dinner set served in a traditional “dulang” can be eaten at Kerisik Restaurant over at Laman Padi

What you get is a pretty spacious hut/ room with all the modern comforts/ amenities available such as a reasonably cosy double bed, TV, tea/coffee maker, air-conditioning or fan, fridge, safety box, a jug of drinking water-coway (which can be refillable) & towels, soap, shampoo etc… It is not 5 star quality but it is reasonably clean, and also comfortable… And I have no complaints…

Despite being slightly away from the crowd and such, the Gemalai Village is not scary as you can still hear traffic and you can walk to nearby food and grocery shops for necessities…..

So for those of you wanting a different kind of stay then just city or beach stays, this is a staycation you really ought to check in….
