Food Review 2022 – Suan Bua Thai Restaurant at Centara Grand Ladprao Bangkok, Thailand

Suan Bua, is actually a long-established Thai restaurant at Centara Grand at Central Plaza Ladprao Bangkok …. It is the place to go to if you want to try authentic royal Thai cuisine.

Suan Bua is dedicated to offering authentic Thai cuisine, focusing on healthful eating and food as medicine. The vast menu ranges from hot and spicy curries for the adventurous, to mild lemon-grass and coconut consommés that soothe the palate.

Having undergone refurbishment, this restaurant is practically a welcoming haven of comfort made with warm wood and timber decorations that compliment perfectly with warm lighting…. perfect ambience for an indulgent afternoon with your loved ones, friends or business partners…

There is also an alfresco terrace which allows you to enjoy the view of the garden and swimming pool while indulging in a delightful meal or a drink….

We enjoyed our lunch which has been painstakingly prepared by Chef Sutthaporn C… Her dishes and the presentation was definitely fit for royalty….. and best of all Suan Bua is promoting “Food as Medicine” considering a lot of Thai food contain Thai herbs and spices which has been used for centuries for dietary supplements and which can also be considered superfood

We started off with some refreshing mocktails- Suan Bua Simplied (THB 200) It was made from a combination of fresh smashed lychee, lemongrass, lychee syrup, cranberry juice, apple juice and lime juice… the result? A mocktail which is just soooo refreshing, especially on a humid day!!!

Our royal meal started off with some appetizers – and we had the Poh Pia Dok Mai (THB 390) . This soft rice paper roll was willed with Amaebi shrimp and edible flowers including butterfly pea flowers and it looked soooo pretty, it was almost a crying shame to eat it….

But when we did, it was just soooo flavourful and delicious as the ingredients were just so fresh!!!

The benefits derived from this meal? Lowering blood sugar, lowering cholestrol, treating food poisoning and curing coughs and cold!!! (It is written in the menu)

The next dish up was the Yum Som O Poo Nim Thord (THB 390). This was a delicious refreshing pomelo salad served with crispy soft shell crab…

To be honest, I never quite fancy fruits prepared in savoury dishes but this was really very nice and refreshing on the palate …

The health benefits of this dish.. Help to strenghten the heart, burn fat, nourish the skin, improve the appetite and helps breathing!!

The third dish was Hoy Shell Lui Suan (THB 790) which consist of seared scallops with fresh Thai herbs and chilli sauce… it was really light, fresh , spicy and sooo yummy… I almost did not have enough…

The benefits were also pretty impressive as this dish actually can help strenghten your immune system, nourish the eyes, inhibits the growth of cancer and helps improve mood..

The fourth dish which was one of our main dishes was Pa- Nang Neua Gam Wua Pak Dong (THB 620) which is actually slow cooked beef cheek dried curry served with vegetable pickles… this was really delicious eaten with the Thai Jasmine rice, the beef was tender and easy to chew…

Then came Gaeng Cour Ped Yang Look Peach (THB 490) which was actually Roasted duck which was cooked in a combination of red curry and some dried fish… there were some peaches inside the dish and initially I really did not want to eat this as the ingredients sound super weird…

I took a careful bite and I fell in love with it though… somehow or other the ingredients seemed to compliment each other.. you onky taste a hint of the dried fish in the curry and the duck was pretty good….

We ended our delicious lunch with some Sohm Choon (THB 290) – a Thai version of our local leng chee kang … It had lychee, green mango and…….. crispy shallots in it!!! All in a nice Thai sweet and sour syrup… and it was really such a pleasant and lovely way to end the meal!!!!

So now the question is where can I order these in Malaysia, because the food is really so good and memorable and flavourful and , and ……. Sighhh… I guess maybe I have to just plan another trip to Suan Bua at Centara Grand Ladprao…. Lol
