Food Review 2023 – Queen City Steamboat & Grill, TREC, Kuala Lumpur

The new Queen City Steamboat and Grill is a hidden gem at TREC Jalan Tun Razak, because like where else can you get a great steamboat and grill buffet at an affordable pricing, with amazing view of the Merdeka 118, Tun Razak Exchange on one side, the serene driving range on the other side and perhaps gaze at the sky and perhaps the stars and the moon (on a beautiful night) while dining….

The Queen City Steamboat and Grill is a combination of steamboat and grill, that offers plenty of choices, from meat to seafood and fried noms. I was invited to visit with some buddies to savour their spread, and it was definitely satisfyingly good…

The Queen City Steamboat and Grill may look like a simple and laid-back restaurant, but don’t let the casual setting fool you. You’ll be able to have a full barbecue and steamboat feast here, for just RM49.90 per adult, RM44.90 per senior citizen and RM39.90 per child and the restaurant is open from 4pm to 3am!!!

Owned by 3 partners who hails from Bandar Permaisuri, and the big sister restaurant there, thus the name – Queen City… this restaurant at TREC is located next to Atsky / Iron Fairies and occupies the first floor and roof top area…it is a pretty cool place to bring your besties, business colleagues, or even your loved ones to enjoy some honest to goodness noms in a nice covered and air- conditioned space to get away from the humidity or dine at the uncovered rooftop area which has been amply litted up, and has ample fans and blowers to keep you cool while you dine … do not worry because if the weather changes, there are retractable pergola with glass covers that will cover you from the rain..

The restaurant can accommodate up to 250 people at any one time….

Steamboat has definitely been one of my favourite comfort food and I for one can’t resist the smell and the taste of piping hot pot with savoury broth and fresh ingredients and especially paired with barbecued meat….

To me steamboat is fun cos you get to DIY your own dining experience by choosing and cooking what you like best for yourself on the spot!

You can expect all the regular steamboat selections, including fish balls, vegetables, seafood such as fresh prawns , fish, razor clams and mussels, and marinated meats – lamb, beef, chicken and fish in various marination all ready to be grilled at your table.

There are accompanying condiments and side dishes such as fried noodles, fried rice, white steamed rice, as well as uncooked noodles (to add to the steamboat pot), as well as cakes, fruits and desserts (try their chocolate banana spring roll) you can choose to round out your meal. For the soup base, choose between a choice of the favourite wholesome chicken or spicy Tom Yam soup. I personally love the tomyam soup as it is more flavourful and spicy.

There’s also an assortment of drinks as well as unlimited Coway water and ice cream

Do make your reservations if you want to go and berbuka puasa there too during this fasting month as there are limited seats !!!
