Review 2023 – 99 Wonderland Park (Wildlife in the City)

Having been to MATTA Fair countless times, I have always come across 99 Wonderland Park (Wildlife in The City) booth and they always had some interesting animal for petting or for people to interact with… I have always been meaning to go for a visit but somehow it always slipped my mind because I was just so busy…

However, my besties and I recently finally went to the 99 Wonderland Park, and it was a lot of fun!!!!

The 99 Wonderland Park is a 23 acres recreational park in Kuala Lumpur located in Selayang and fascinatingly built around a derelict retention pond by the owners JL99 Group, a remarkable Malaysia property developer….

The park adopts an “open” concept, allowing the visitors to interact with the birds and animals…. And there were definitely lot of beautiful instaworthy spots to take your photos and create new memories

We got our tickets and wristbands and entered the park…

We came across the LED lighting globe and the London Telephone booth. Then there were some bears which were hmmm… some which were a little too garishly painted for my taste but nevertheless interesting….

Then we came to the Saltwater Crocodile pond… where they were feeding Goldie their crocodile…

Wander further down the path and you will come to the 99 Wild Island where you can see, black -handed gibbons, peacocks, meerkat, ferrets, snakes, raccoons…

You can even enter the lemur’s enclosure and take some photos… I was inappropriately dressed in red and got my ass nibbled (not really bitten) by one of King Julien’s kind as I think he or she thought the flower on my dress at my ass area was a lychee or something….

There was a raccoon on display outside the enclosure area as well as an aquarium with a couple of cute green snakes contemplating on their dinner…

And we got a little scared as the ostriches were actually running around the area half monitored by the amused park keepers, accepting and hoping for snacks from visitors, but they were really friendly….

Further down the path were a few open enclosures for visitors to meet and greet the friendly animals such as a pretty teal coloured iguana, a huge python, some flamingoes and a lazy ass raccoon who was more interested in sleep that eating or giving visitors his time of the day

Then we came across the capybaras, otters and some monster fishes (mainly giant cat fishes, arapaimas and alligator gars)

Further down the path we came to three huge enclosures with the Serval Cat, the Civets and the mesmerizing Caracals….

Then there was a space for panda statues for panda fans…. And another huge enclosure for the Malayan Sunbears… one who was gained fame from being the “puppy” a Malaysian actress was arrested for keeping in her condo…

So this “puppy” was brought to 99 Wonderland Park and named Pandan and he is now a very affectionate (to his keeper) sun bear who loves sweet things with a not so friendly girlfriend (which his keeper describes as “female and their moodswings” )

Then further down the path towards the restaurant, we came across the Malayan Tapir and deers… one thing about the 99 Wonderland Park is all the enclosures are huge and the animals are healthy and thriving… even the Malayan Tapir enclosure had a jacuzzi for those lucky tapirs…. Hahahahah

The pond which is now a “lake” has musical fountains at certain hours of the night and is also home to a lot of ducks and swans….

Near the restaurant they have an educational show featuring the macaws… (yawn… ok boring for me cos I see this plenty of times) but still good and something rare!!!! This would be the snake education show using non – venomous and semi – venomous (not too poisonous) snakes which have actually been captured by the park snake keepers from schools and homes… now that was kinda thrilling , exciting and even a little scary…

There are snacks and food sold at surprisingly reasonable prices here as compared to some other themed parks…

Once you are finished with the animals , you will come across the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiacs before you cross the romantic and beautifully illuminated LED litted bridges…

We headed to the lake for a little cruise and duck feeding before taking a train ride around the park again only to be greeted with an adorable sight of half a dozen flamingoes walking along the path with the house veterinarian ushering them along….

It was definitely a great evening and we had a wonderful time learning and interacting with some of the animals… definitely highly recommended!!!!
