To be honest, yours truly was unaware that such a beautiful resort known as the Philea Mines Beach Resort existed, until recently when they generously hosted us for the Eat Travel Write 6 – the Selangor Culinary Adventure… , and that was because it was, well, previously know as the Mines Wellness Resort..
The place is breathtaking for sure, with sweeping views of North Lake, and just a perfect getaway for a serene and tranquil getaway and it is not that far from Kuala Lumpur anyway.. It comes with a lagoon pool and pampering spa services too, making it a perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life..
Conveniently located in Seri Kembangan, Philea Mines Beach Resort is a 20-minute drive from shopping options in Kuala Lumpur like Pavilion Mall and Suria KLCC. Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) is a 35-minute drive from the hotel.
Living up to its title as “beach in the city”, Philea Mines Beach Resort caters to varieties of services such as health retreats, weekend getaways, garden weddings, beach barbeques and other team building corporate events.
With a total of 178 rooms, which consist of 120 beach and lake facing rooms and 48 units of wooden chalets facing the beautiful lagoon and the overall resort, you can choose from the Standard Room, Superior Room, Deluxe Room, Lake View Suite, Lake View Chalet and Royal Suite..
The resort is elegantly furnished, the spacious air-conditioned rooms feature a private balcony which lets in natural light. All rooms come with a cable/satellite TV and private bathroom with bathtub, which was the answer to my daughter’s prayer…
My daughter and me had the Superior room and had a magnificent view of both the lagoon, the resort and the lake.. it was just amazing waking up to the view in the morning…
The 24-hour Abdul & Charlie’s Restaurant serves a delightful mix of local and international dishes,
…while the Pork Free Cheng Ho Court offers authentic Cantonese cuisine and vegetarian dishes. Guests may also dine at the Philea Café that offers affordable dishes and a basic continental breakfast as well.. Refreshing cocktails can be enjoyed at Sunset Lounge.
The main highlight of the hotel is naturally the lagoon pool which has been set amidst lush greenery, tranquil waters of the North Lake and the scenic sunset. It is here where you can immerse yourself in peace and bliss, and let the day go by knowing this could be the closest to heaven as anyone can get.
The Philea Mines Beach Resort comes with a well-equipped gym, which is air-conditioned and fully installed with cardio machines, weight devices and flexible training…
And well, if you want to indulge yourself further, do take a lovely cruise around the picturesque MINES Lake..
The MINES Cruise offers a myriad of cruises to satisfy your most intimate desires. Choose from a massage on the lake, dinner with a view of the sunset or just to enjoy the breeze through your hair..
The MINES Lake began about a hundred years ago when a Chinese Immigrant Chan Wing came to Malaya and discovered tin ore in a site abandoned by Europeans earlier. Mining in the area left a gaping hole of 2 KM long, 1 KM wide and 200 metres deep. Gradually rain waters began to fill the crevice, and thus was the humble beginning of the two great lakes you see today as well as one of the deepest man made lakes around…
Explore the history of the largest open cast tin mine in the world. Cruise past gorgeous landscapes of Mines Resort & Golf Course and the white sandy beaches of Philea Mines Beach Resort. We were fortunate to go on a cruise onboard the new yet traditional boat MINES Cruise had, the Minangkabau.
However, the Minangkabau is actually a boat, perfect for accommodating up to 35 guests for small group gathering, party, dinner, celebration and countdown event.
