Hotel Review 2020 – Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur

Being someone with a restless nature in a time when travel is not allowed, a staycation is one of my favourite indulgence…

Its that little getaway to relax and rejuvenate in a new environment… A change of scenery… And its just incredibly satisfying about waking up in a lovely hotel room with a view and perhaps a nice breakfast.. Won’t you agree…

I have had the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur on my bucket list for a while and finally it became a reality because the hotel decided to slash its prices and made it somewhat a bit more affordable?!!

The Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur is a beautiful 5-star hotel located smack in the middle of the Golden Triangle… Location wise, it has one of the best locations around…

With 412 rooms, including 42 suites, you should be able to find the perfect room for your budget or splurge on whatever you want and can…

Yours truly was slightly confused when she checked in becase despite the ground floor of the hotel being quite nice, there was just a small reception area?!!! That and a concierge desk.. That was before one of the guest service officers then brought us to the actual lobby on the topmost floor…

The elevators quickly whisk you up to a breathtaking lobby that pits you eye to eye with the Petronas Towers….

The hotel is kinda unique, as mentioned their lobby is located on the 39th floor, the top floor of the building… And, in order to access any of the other floors you first have to go to the lobby, and take a different elevator to the guest room floors… Pretty secured in the way that not simply anyone can access your room.. Hehehe…

Checking in was a breeze but I couldn’t help feeling the deposit was a bit too much… RM1000?! Most hotels would take just RM200 to RM300 for their security deposit…

As to be expected, Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur rooms are filled with the luxury and comfort you would expect to find in a 5-star hotel… This includes beautiful modern furnishings, floor to ceiling windows in each room, and wooden parquet flooring or marble flooring (in the bathroom)

I got to stay at the Grand Deluxe Room which was pretty spacious at 65 square metres… My room came with a breathtaking 180-degree panoramic view of Kuala Lumpur city skyline, the Petronas Twin Towers as the star….

The Grand Deluxe King with Twin Tower View is a stunning room which feels incredibly luxurious yet welcoming and homely with the earthy tones and comfortable furnishing.

The room has a king-size bed, four plush feather pillows and a large TV….

There are two large armchairs, separate office space as well as a normal sized wardrobe.

The impressive part of the room would be the marble-clad bathroom complete with a dressing table, bathtub and rain shower all boasting a spectacular view of the Petronas Twin Towers…

The bath amenities from Balmain adds to the luxurious feel together with the velvety soft and fluffy bathrobes…. Whether you are one that enjoys a leisure soak in the bathtub or a long hot shower, this is the perfect place to freshen or cool yourself from the Malaysian humidity outside whilst enjoying the magnificent skyline, especially since the swimming pools are closed….

I definitely loved the luxurious bedding and mattress. The sheets are very cosy and comfortable but I did find the pillows too soft as both were feathered pillows… I normally prefer a firmer pillow and a feathered one..

There’s a nice glass desk in the room for getting some work done if you need to…

There are 3 dining options in the hotel, but because of CMCO, only THIRTY8 is open, which is located one floor below the sky lobby… This lovely restaurant and sky bar is perfect for a sunset drinks overlooking the city of you have the time….

The breakfast buffet at THIRTY8, is pretty nice with 2 big island stations offering a generous spread of Western, Malaysian, Indian and Chinese dishes on offer…

You can also find a noodle bar, a pancake and waffle station…. I loved their pastry and bread section as well as yoghurts (also got vitagens), salads and cold cuts. The juices are freshly made and can even be made-to-order

Staying at the Grand Hyatt, is being right in the heart of the Golden Triangle, which means the Grand Hyatt is barely a 5 or 10 minutes covered walk to the Petronas Towers, Suria KLCC Shopping Mall, the Aquaria KLCC, and Kuala Lumpur City Park via KL Convention Centre underground passage or the covered walkway to Pavilion Kuala Lumpur and Bukit Bintang..

Since travelling out of the country is out of the question for the unforeseeable future yet, so why not have a staycation in the city. Enjoy that much needed luxurious getaway without really going anywhere. Just follow all necessary SOPs while there and practice social distancing…..
