If you are looking for a quick little resort getaway without having to go too far, the DoubleTree by Hilton Putrajaya Lakeside is a perfect place to be at….

Just a 40-minute drive from KL, and located in Putrajaya. The resort seems to feel private and remote… and it is also not that far away from the government city which has many mesmerizing buildings with both modern European and Islamic influences like the Millennium Monument, the pink Putra Mosque, Palace of Justice etc as well as nature – Putrajaya Wetlands and the Putrajaya Botanical Gardens … If you want to shop, you can probably head to Alamanda Putrajaya and /or IOI City Mall Putrajaya

Since it was my daughter’s birthday and we wanted a little peace and quiet bonding time from the everyday hectic city life, we checked into Doubletree by Hilton Putrajaya Lakeside for an overnight stay…

When you check in into Doubletree by Hilton , they will always give each guest their Signature Doubletree Chocolate Chip Cookie… it was warm and definitely mouthwateringly irresistible… It was baked on-site and kept in a warmer at the reception…

Checking in was brisk, friendly and very efficient—I was given my keycards and had my rooms location pointed out with clear instructions…

We headed to our room -a King Family Room which was super spacious and very comfortable… 61 square metres in size and it came with super cosy Sweet Dreams beds, sofa bed, 50-inch HDTV, mini fridge and work desk and had two balconies, one that opened to the children’s splash pool area…

There was even a towel art of two swans on the bed and a birthday card and a basket of fruits and snacks….

We spent the afternoon watching HD channels on the 50-inch TV while lazing on the huge bed before heading down to stroll around the hotel…

You can also catch up on work at the desk with a table lamp and keep in touch with pretty decent WiFi access…there are also two toilets in the King Family Room so my daughter and I just did not have fight for toilet rights…

Other amenities include tea and coffee making facilities, a laptop-sized safe, air conditioning and 4 bottles of complimentary bottled water.

When evening came, we headed to Makan Kitchen for our semi Buffet Dinner… it sure was hard but fun choosing our main course…

You see, they offered 5 types of Main Courses, 2 types of Starches, 2 types of Vegetables, and 5 types of sauces for a mix and match dinner to suit your tastebuds and everything sounded just about good to me….

Main Courses offered:

• Rendang marinated Beef Short ribs
• Pan Seared tandoori Lamb Chop
• Pan seared Salmon Tikka 
• Oven Baked Prawn with Sambal Gesek
• Oven Baked Percik marinated Chicken Breast

While the Chef prepared our Main Course, my daughter and I helped ourselves to the buffet which include appetizer, salads, soup and bread, dessert and ice cream….

Dinner was really good and both my daughter and I were really full and contented when we finished our Main Courses…

Once dinner was over, we headed back to our room for a shower and lazing in bed with the tv and mother- daughter moments before we slept.

The wonderful thing about staying here at DoubleTree by Hilton Putrajaya Lakeside is also the fact you can experience and enjoy both sunrise and sunset here!!

Being an early riser, I took the opportunity to go see the morning sunrise which was truly breathtaking…at the DoubleTree by Hilton Putrajaya Lakeside’s infinity pool facing the lake and of course the lake itself….

Breakfast at the Makan Kitchen, was definitely a treat!! There was a huge mouth watering spread with a varied choice of local cuisines to choose from – Chinese, Indian, Malay, Western!!!

And I really recommend their Indian food for those who can eat spicy!! Truly superb!! And besides that orgasm inducing Indian cuisine, they had a generous spread of smoked salmon, smoked chicken, smoked duck etc and beautiful pastries… the food is really good and I really love it!!!!

To sum up my short getaway, Doubletree by Hilton Putrajaya Lakeside is definitely a great place for business travellers and families… or even for you and me who need a change or short break from the mundane everyday life

Just for those wondering, it is 5 minutes from the Putrajaya International Convention Centre. IOI City Mall and Wetlands Putrajaya Park are 20 minutes away. Kuala Lumpur Airport is a half-hour away…
