Food 2026 – My Sunday Brunch Experience at Petaling Jaya Marriott Hotel’s New ITA-YO Brunch

Sundays are made for slowing down. For sleeping in a little longer, catching up with loved ones, and indulging in good food without watching the clock. So when I heard that Petaling Jaya Marriott Hotel had launched a brand-new Sunday brunch concept that combines Italian and Japanese cuisine, I knew I had to check it out.

Called ITA-YO Sunday Brunch, this weekly dining experience takes place at The Atrium, a bright and inviting space that immediately sets the mood for a leisurely afternoon. The concept is simple yet brilliant — bringing together the hearty, comforting flavours of Italy with the refined elegance of Japanese cuisine, all in one brunch spread.

And honestly? It works surprisingly well.

The moment I arrived, I was greeted by an atmosphere that felt relaxed yet sophisticated. There was no rush, no pressure to eat and leave. Instead, the experience encourages diners to take their time, enjoy meaningful conversations, and savour every bite.

Naturally, I headed straight for the food.

One of the standout aspects of the brunch is the Italian selection curated by Chef Rajesh. His passion for authentic Italian cooking shines through in every dish. The Calamari Fritti was wonderfully crispy, while the Salt-Crusted Baked Seabass delivered delicate flavours and perfectly cooked fish. I also found myself going back for seconds of the Spezzatino di Manzo alla Toscana, a rich and comforting Tuscan-style beef stew that felt like a warm hug on a plate.

Of course, pasta lovers won’t be disappointed either, with classic Aglio Olio and other Italian favourites making an appearance throughout the spread.

Then came the Japanese-inspired selections, and this was where the brunch truly elevated itself.

The Mini Wagyu Don Bori was an instant favourite, featuring beautifully marbled beef served over rice, while the Mini Unagi Don Bori delivered that irresistible sweet and savoury combination that always hits the spot. The Tuna Tartare Cones added a refreshing touch, and the Tori Tsukune Yaki offered juicy, flavourful bites that were impossible to resist.

What I particularly loved was how the Japanese dishes complemented the Italian offerings instead of competing with them. The result was a dining experience that felt balanced, exciting, and full of discovery.

Beyond the food, ITA-YO succeeds because of the little details. The carefully curated soundtrack inspired by both Italian and Japanese influences, the attentive service, and the elegant surroundings all come together to create an experience that feels special without being overly formal.

At RM168 nett per person, I found the brunch to offer excellent value considering the quality, variety, and overall experience. Whether you’re planning a family gathering, a catch-up session with friends, or simply looking for a new weekend ritual, ITA-YO Sunday Brunch offers something refreshingly different from the usual brunch scene.

Sometimes the best Sundays aren’t about doing more.

They’re about slowing down, enjoying great food, and letting the weekend end on a delicious note.

And that’s exactly what ITA-YO delivers.
