Suria KLCC Opens KLFW 2026 in Style with RR by Rizman Ruzaini’s “Heritage in Motion”

Malaysian fashion took centre stage as Suria KLCC officially opened Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week (KLFW) 2026 with an unforgettable showcase by RR by Rizman Ruzaini.

Held on 3 August 2026 at the Esplanade, KLCC Park, the opening show, titled “Suria KLCC presents RR by Rizman Ruzaini,” unveiled the label’s latest Cruise 2026 collection, RR Vol. 4: Heritage in Motion, to a full house of more than 500 guests.

The spectacular showcase marked the beginning of the 14th edition of KLFW, which runs from 3 to 9 August 2026, bringing together more than 50 Malaysian designers and labels under this year’s inspiring theme, “Destination: Home Ground.”

A Love Letter to Malaysia’s Past

As its name suggests, Heritage in Motion celebrated Malaysia’s rich nostalgic past, drawing inspiration from the streetscapes and modes of transportation of a bygone era.

Trishaws, bicycle gears and vintage travel became striking visual motifs throughout the presentation, transformed into a contemporary fashion language through RR by Rizman Ruzaini’s signature silhouettes.

The result was a collection that felt both nostalgic and modern — a stylish reinterpretation of familiar Malaysian memories for a new generation.

The heritage theme extended beyond the clothing. KLFW’s newly reimagined show hall was transformed into a monochromatic, heritage-inspired setting featuring designs adapted from archival batik prints from Yayasan Sabah.

At the heart of the venue stood an elegant all-white, hourglass-shaped runway, creating a dramatic stage for the collection.

And the fashion experience extended beyond the guests inside the show hall. The showcase was also broadcast live on a large LED screen for shoppers at Suria KLCC, allowing the wider public to experience the opening night.

A Milestone Moment for RR by Rizman Ruzaini

The choice of RR by Rizman Ruzaini to open KLFW 2026 was particularly meaningful.

With almost two decades in the Malaysian fashion industry, founders Rizman Nordin and Ruzaini Wan Jamil have built the label into one of the country’s most recognisable fashion names.

The opening show also marked the beginning of an even closer relationship between the designers and Suria KLCC.

In 2025, the duo fulfilled a career-long dream when RR by Rizman Ruzaini opened its first boutique at Suria KLCC, following nearly 20 years in the industry.

For Rizman, having a presence at one of Malaysia’s most prestigious retail destinations represents something bigger than simply having a physical store — it is a reflection of brand trust and recognition.

And KLFW 2026 took that relationship to another level, with the designers making a rare double appearance during the opening day, returning for a second showcase later that same evening.

Celebrating Malaysian Fashion on a Global Stage

The opening night attracted an impressive gathering of industry leaders, fashion personalities, media and enthusiasts, including Datuk Sr Mohd. Salem Kailany, Group Chief Executive Officer of KLCC (Holdings) Sdn Bhd; Francis Tan, Executive Director and CEO of Suria KLCC Sdn Bhd; and Andrew Tan, Founder of KLFW.

For Suria KLCC, the partnership represents more than a fashion collaboration.

Francis Tan highlighted the significance of showcasing a homegrown label like Rizman Ruzaini on such a major platform, noting that Heritage in Motion perfectly captured the spirit of Destination: Home Ground — taking something distinctly Malaysian and presenting it on a stage worthy of the world.

It is also a reflection of Suria KLCC’s commitment to nurturing and championing Malaysian fashion.

As Tan aptly put it, while international luxury brands bring prestige, local labels bring heart, heritage and identity.

And seeing a Malaysian fashion powerhouse such as Rizman Ruzaini positioned alongside international couture houses sends a powerful message: Malaysian fashion belongs on the world stage.

Destination: Home Ground

The RR by Rizman Ruzaini opening show set the tone for an exciting edition of KLFW 2026.

Running from 3 to 9 August 2026 at the Esplanade, KLCC Park, this year’s fashion week features more than 50 Malaysian designers and labels, spanning emerging talents, established names and exciting cross-industry collaborations.

The celebration extends beyond the runway, with various activations taking place across Suria KLCC, including styling displays by fashion students at Isetan KLCC and a curated Jom Malaysia pop-up by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN).

Presented in collaboration with Suria KLCC and KLCC (Holdings) Sdn Bhd, and supported by KPDN as Principal Industry Strategic Partner in conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2026, KLFW 2026 is more than a fashion event.

It is a celebration of Malaysian creativity, culture and identity.

And with RR by Rizman Ruzaini’s Heritage in Motion setting the stage, KLFW 2026 has certainly started on a stylish note.

From nostalgic Malaysian streets to contemporary couture, heritage has never looked this fashionable.
