Did you know Northern Indian food is rich in spices, herbs, and seasoning blends, and it has loads of wheat which include naan, chapati and paratha, rather then just rice…
On the other hand, Mexican food is spicy, sweet and salty with plenty of chilli – which is why locals here in Malaysia enjoy eating it too…
I was over at Nick ‘s Tikkas & Tacos,
where their food was a lovely combination and fusion of Indian meeting Mexican….
Nick ‘s Tikkas & Tacos is located at the Ground floor of the Goldstone Tower/ Holiday Inn Express, along Jalan Raja Chulan. It is slightly hidden away but it is a place where your senses will be delighted…
Firstly, the ambience would make you go wow!!! The restaurant is colourful, cheerful and the murals were beautifully done by a local artist who learnt Oaxacan (Mexican) art in Mexico..
I for one am pretty much mesmerized by the painting of the hare.. It is said that the hare is an ancient Mesoamerican symbol of the moon..
At the other corner of the restaurant is an interesting Oaxacan mural of Ganesha the Indian elephant diety.. Ganesha is widely revered by the Hindus, as the remover of obstacles; the patron of arts and sciences; and the deva of intellect and wisdom as well as being the god of beginnings…
Then the food here will truly delight your tastebuds and satisfy you… For your info, the food is all made from scratch, such as yogurt, paneer, chaats, curries and all… to the naans and even the desserts and without any MSG, so expect the dishes to be amazing but there can be a shortcoming… The food preparation can be a little slow since everything is made to order, even the briyani… So it is not advisable to dine here if you are in a hurry or such… Nick’s dishes are to be savoured and enjoyed without worrying about the time.. So it’s perfect for a laid back leisure meal or dinner with your best friends or loved ones…
Our meal started with some Mexican Starters – Chips and Cheese Dip… Truly a treat… The Chips came served with homemade melted cheese and it was indeed a perfect pairing….
We had some Plain Naan and Garlic Naan ordered to go with Nick’s Butter Chicken and Bhindi Do Pyaza.
The Butter Chicken is said to be a signature dish here and it is pretty delicious, even if I was not quite a fan of butter chickens…. Nick’s Butter Chicken is made with buttery gravy with the addition of cream gives the curry sauce a silky smooth rich texture…
Bhindi do pyaza is a North Indian dish made with okra, spices, herbs & double the amount of onions. It’s super simple, healthy and tastes pretty delicious
We also ordered Nick’s famous Prawn Masala and Chicken Vindaloo….
Nick’s Prawn Masala is without a doubt flavourful and cooked in delicious thick and spicy masala sauce…
Nick’s Chicken Vinadaloo is a slightly sour thick dry curry bursting with flavors…
Despite insisting that I did not want any rice, I definitely could not resist spooning a few spoonfuls of the irresistible Mutton Biryani onto my plate and repeated it again… The Biryani was beautifully spiced and the fragrant layers of biryani rice with the juicy, tender mutton was something I found truly delicious….
If you are a vegetarian, you should try their Vegetarian Biryani.. It also has all the flavours and is a pretty great choice..
Nick personally recommended us his Spicy Keema Pizza & Novie Spicy Anchovies Pizza, both which was try irresistible….
Nick’s Spicy Keema Pizza is made with spicy minced masala mutton with green peas and potatoes topped on a thin crust base…
On the other hand the Novie Spicy Anchovies Nick’s signature pizza with local homemade sambal and crunchy flavourful anchovies, stir fried to perfection was just out of this world…
Nick‘s is the place to go to indulge in two of the world’s most loved cuisines under one roof….and I really enjoyed it here….
