It all began with a close friend of mine who said he wanted to give me a little staycation birthday treat, at MoMo’s Kuala Lumpur for my upcoming birthday later this month, since I was so bored at home and yearning desperately for a change of environment…. And as well as helping to contribute to our local businesses…
We were however lucky, and somehow were fortunate to get upgraded to The Chow Kit, MoMo’s Kuala Lumpur more glamorous sister hotel…
Having wanting to stay at The Chow Kit – an Ormond Hotel for quite a while, it was a dream come true.. Checking in was a breeze after the obligatory temperature check and details record which is part of the new normal…
Nevermind, we were given the smallest room which was The Den… It was definitely a welcome getaway, vital for my sanity (ok, just a little bit of too much drama here)…
The Chow Kit is a beautiful bespoke hotel, a blend of cosmopolitan and cosy finishes with luxurious comfort you can expect from a luxurious 5 star hotel, just minus the recreational facilities such as the spa, the gym or the swimming pool…
The staff of this hotel are all friendly and there to made your stay as comfortable as possible..
I was down at The Chow Kit Kitchen & Bar asking them for a cup of hot water since I needed to take some photos and review a Taiwanese tea and surprisingly and understandly they sent me a nice pot of hot water and the cup I asked for… (some other hotels would have been making a fuss)…
My home for the night is none other then The Den, said to be named after Chow Kit’s historically infamous gambling dens…
When you check in, you are given your key card with a little folder/ newsletter kinda history on Chow Kit…
It is a cosy and compact queen bed room, 15 sqm/160 sqft in size with details – floor-to-ceiling windows (- mine faced Maju Junction and Jalan TAR) , soothing dark green ceilings, timber floors, rain shower, luxury linens, Smart TV and bespoke organic toiletries… There is also a safe, a mini refrigerator and a hairdryer…
Only complains I would have is there is no hot water in my room as well as bidet in the toilet… (as my daughter deduced, it is a White man’s toilet…) but you can pull the shower to the toilet to rinse your lady bits or men bits if need be…
What I love about The Chow Kit, the super cosy bedding and awesome shower… I certainly was squeaky clean as I loved my shower so much here… Hehehe and yes, the staff.. The amazing staff are friendly, accomodative and really make you feel at home…
Even the food at the Chow Kit Kitchen & Bar is really beautifully presented and delivered, as well as really delicious…
There is free high-speed WiFi throughout the property for everyone… They have bottles off water for guest which can be refillable as many times as you want from the water filter outside near the lift area which promotes recycling..
The Chow Kit is located on the corner of Jalan Sultan Ismail and Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, and is just a 5 min walk from the Sultan Ismail LRT station and Medan Tuanku Monorail station via an overhead bridge walkway…
Thanks Oli, for my amazing advance birthday treat for me and my daughter… I truly love it…
