I have heard so much hype about drive in cinemas and often wondered what it is like until now…

For those keen on having an experience, you can now visit NESCAFÉ® M-Junction drive-in cinema at Malaysia Tourism Center (MATIC) and enjoy screenings of local and international movies….

This is the first drive-in cinema in Malaysia… And perfect for those who want to enjoy a date night at the movies but worry about being around too many people especially during these COVID-19 pandemic times… And since it has been a while since I “dated” my best friend, I lured him out from (over) working at home for the drive in experience with me…

Strict social distancing measures are
observed in line with government regulations. The cinema can accommodate a maximum of 50 cars at one time and will feature both local and international movies on 4 meters by 9 meters LED screen.

Only two visitors are allowed in each car and we got our temperatures checked before being guided to where we should park our car…

Once the car has been parked, the staff provided us with a portable speaker with direct audio transmission as well as hand held /portable rechargeable fans for your comfort and safety inside your cars.

NESCAFÉ® M-Junction prides itself as an experience that promotes the reduction of Carbon Dioxide emissions, and the organizers encourage guests to turn off their car radios and air conditioning system for the duration of the movie, as a symbol of commitment to the planet…fortunately, since the movie is screened in the evening, the weather is balmy, not too hot and when you leave your window or car door ajar, there is a cooling breeze to further cool you down besides the portable hand held fans…

Facts and figures relating to Global Warming are also screened along with Covid19 SOP warnings before the movie began to increase awareness on the two issues.

You can order your snacks from the website, which are basically simple dishes like Chicken Burger, Maggi Pedas Gila and Maggi Kaw Kaw Kari (instant noodles in a bowl)

However, be aware that they are not serving any drinks.. But you can buy your drinks and donuts from the food trucks there.. Just scan the QR code for the menu offerings…

To minimize contact and reduce queues, a cashless online system is created, and food and drinks are delivered directly to visitors’ cars…
